GA Tech Locker Rooms, Georgia Institute of Technology. Atlanta, GA. Project Completed in 2018.
Modernization and improvement of the operational and functionality of the football locker room and adjacent support spaces. The renovations included all new ventilated lockers, ceilings, interior finishes, lighting, branch sprinkler piping and heads, mechanical branch piping and diffusers, electrical, lighting and fire alarm devices. The toilet and shower area were reconfigured and furnished with all new plumbing fixtures for toilet and showers.
A new hydrotherapy room was also added containing 2 new in-ground concrete formed custom plunge pools. A hydration station area will consist of cabinetry and counter tops that house two Powerade and water dispensing towers, and a drink cooler, as well as a sink. This renovation will incorporate the latest technology upgrades and branding enhancements to recruit and retain student-athletes to GT Athletics The project engineering scope also included renovating the lighting and lighting control, power distribution, pool and spa design, and doing load calculations. GSU Football Operations, Georgia State University Football Stadium. Atlanta, GA. Project Completed in 2019.
The project focused on the football program’s coaches’ offices, coaches’ locker room, and team meeting rooms, including a 150-seat tiered auditorium. The renovated 20,782 sqf previously served as staff locker rooms, staff lounge, staff kitchen and Dining, and staff training for the Atlanta Braves. Engineering scope of this sports project included demolition of all engineering systems within the footprint of the renovations, with the exception of the existing mechanical room, and an area of the coaches’ locker room toilet and showers that house existing sanitary and domestic plumbing piping. The new football coaches’ suite houses video and recruiting functions in addition to all of the offices, and is separated from the team meeting suite by glass double doors that may be secured as needed during special events, press events, after hour, etc. The suite contains reception space, conference rooms, offices, break room, coffee bar, and locker rooms. GSU Convocation Center, Georgia State University. Atlanta, GA. Project Currently Under Design.
Seating up to 8,000, the multi-use facility will host commencement, public events and Panthers’ basketball near Georgia State Stadium. The Convocation Center will sit at the northwest corner of Fulton Street and Capitol Avenue, just north of Georgia State Stadium. As Georgia State now graduates more than 10,000 students a year, the convocation center will provide much-needed indoor space for the university’s commencements. “The new convocation center will be the first large, indoor assembly area this university has ever had,” said Mark Becker, president of Georgia State. “With our growing national reputation and record enrollment and graduation rates, it couldn’t come at a better time. It will be a building worthy of our nationally ranked academic programs, our exceptional students and our winning teams.” Atlanta, GA. The 125,000 SF, sports facility will support various athletic events, convocation, large concerts, conferences, commencements and graduation ceremonies. Role: Electrical Engineer up to CD phase
GSU ROTC, Georgia State University. Atlanta, GA. Project Completed in 2018.
A project to add a ROTC facility into GSU’s Turner Field Property. Project included 16,000 sqf infill of three bays on the side field of the service level under the club area. Electrical engineering design included power distribution design and specification for the infill area including an IDF room with dedicated cooling system and back-up power. Lighting design for this sports facility consisted of solid state LED fixtures specifications and lighting calculation in order to meet the owner’s desired light levels while complying with local and national energy codes. Lighting control design included lighting control panel for lighting sweep off after hours and manual local switches as well as occupancy and vacancy sensors to maximize the energy savings. Role: Electrical Engineer of Record
