Below are several projects which our engineering team members have worked on in a variety of contexts through their previous firms. Take a look at our projects below!
We offer a variety of services within the industrial and manufacturing market! Click on the button below to see the different services we offer.
GE Energy, Greenville, South Carolina. Project Completed in 2012.
Located in Greenville, South Carolina, this 215,000 square-foot industrial facility includes laboratory and office space for the air-cooled gas turbine design team. The facility includes five independent test cells, housing 10 full-scale, single-can test stands that can evaluate the full range of GE combustors installed in the world’s fleets. The facility is capable of replicating real-world fuel compositions at full-scale flow conditions to determine the combustor’s complete operability and fuel flexibility envelope, validating them for any condition they may experience in operation. This is the largest gas turbine engineering manufacturing plant with the most powerful off-grid gas turbine validation facility in the world.
Moody Air Force Base Engine Shop
Valdosta, GA. Project Completed in 2009
Approximately 31,000 square feet building, consisting of a high-bay shop area, offices, conference/training room, supply room, kitchen, locker rooms, and a wash bay/loading dock. This industrial facility included three 51 feet span 15 ton cranes with dual 7.5 ton hoists and one 30 foot span 15 ton crane with dual 7.5 ton hoists. Engineering features of the building also include a fire detection and suppression system, explosion proof lights, and HVAC system. The building is designed to meet a LEED Silver rating.
Air Force Aircraft Hanger and Support – Afghanistan. Project Completed in 2010.
Design of a medium size aircraft hanger for department of air force locate din Afghanistan. One of the challenges of the project was delivery of the construction document in metric system. This industrial facility is approximately 19,000 square feet which included an small paint shop and office space. Stand alone, off-grid engineering systems is one of the notable characteristic of this project.
NERC CIP Valve segregation, Plant Scherer, Unit 1&2
Southern Company fossil fuel plant, Juliette, GA
Segregation of power and control for service water valves of each 4 units of plant Scherer to be controlled from separate DCS control units for each of the 4 units achieving cyber security compliance. Engineering scope of work included site survey and evaluation of the existing condition regarding the power and control connection of service water valves, design of new single 2 -12 strand mode fiber optic cables from the service water near the pond to the control rooms, investigation of the path for running the fibers through a series of existing manholes and cable trays to the control rooms. Design and specification of patch panels and patch cords for fiber connections to the DCS. Scope of this industrial project required close collaboration of electrical, controls, and mechanical engineering teams.
LV & MV Switchgear Arc Flash mitigation, Plant Scherer, Unit 1
Southern Company fossil fuel plant, Juliette, GA
Design and implementation of Arc Flash Mitigation scheme utilizing SEL551 relays and addition of maintenance alarm beacon on medium and low voltage switchgears.
Arc Flash incident energy and hazard risk level mitigation utilizing a maintenance switch scheme via use of a solid state relay (SEL-551). Engineering scope of this industrial project included site survey and evaluation of existing GE CO9 electromechanical relays used on the protection scheme of medium, low voltage switchgear and motor control centers which did not have the capability of temporarily adjust the normal protection scheme through the use of a maintenance switch.
This designed was implemented on all unit 1&4 of the plant’s switchboard, MCC, and panels with high arc flash incident energy. This design increased the safety of personnel during the rack-in & rack-out of breakers and in general while working on the energized equipment.
Air compressors Addition, Plant Nacogdoches
Southern Company Nacogdoches, TX
The scope of this projects was Replacement and upgrade of the Three bank of two 100 hp air compressors and associated electrical medium voltage switchgear and controls. This plant is biomass-fired bubbling (BFB) boiler and steam turbine generator (STG) power plant with a net capacity of 105 MW. The industrial facility is located approximately 20 miles NW of Nacogdoches, Texas, near the town of Sacul and is part of Southern Company fleet of power generation.
